WIN: ESTEE LAUDER & BOBBI BROWN STOCKING FILLERS
As a child nothing excited me more than Christmas. Each year I vowed to stay awake to catch Father Christmas in the act of delivering my presents to make sure he had a brand spanking new bike and a barbie. Even though I failed to catch him, he always seemed to get it just right. Perhaps those letters without a stamp made it to the North Pole after all?
Christmas was waking up at 4am beside myself with excitement and finding the empty glass of beer I had left for Father Christmas. Christmas was depositing the entire contents of my christmas sack on the floor and rummaging through it faster than my eyes could keep up with my hands. It meant eating as many lollies as I could until I felt sick. It meant taking my new doll in her new pram for a walk around the block. It was playing with my rubicks cube until finally, in frustration, I peeled off the coloured stickers and stuck them back on, only to discover they never quite stuck back the way they were supposed to and everyone knew I’d cheated. Christmas was making the once yearly pilgrimage to church along with the other 400 parishioners that the priest only saw once a year – since I was told Jesus was the one responsible for the delivery of my cabbage patch doll, I was more than happy to go and some sing out of tune christmas carols to thank the guy.
So, how did the cavalcade of beside myself, I may wet my pants from sheer anticipation and excitement that was the Christmas of my childhood become the do anything to avoid of my adult life? How did Christmas become something to survive instead of something to enjoy, the stress of which, has some people reaching for valium faster than you can say ho ho ho.
The only thing that should be going in the pressure cooker is the Christmas pudding, but in it we have childhood complexes, sibling rivalry, maxed out credit cards, expanding waistlines, ex husbands, ex in laws and the mad dash around the shops for presents on Christmas eve (after promising yourself last year that you would never leave it to the last minute again).
So, in a bid to spread some Christmas cheer, I’m giving away some Christmas stocking goodies. The prize consists of: Estee Lauder’s new Signature Lipstick in Blackcurrant, Estee Lauder’s Sumptuous Bold Lifting Mascara in Black and Bobbi Brown Foundation Stick in Warm Beige (3.5).

Going for christmas tree decoration shopping and fighting with my sister on who’ll put the star. when i was 6, i remember asking dad what extra i had to do to impress Santa. Now, it’s all about letting dad know what “present” i want HIM to give me. I miss the surprise element of my present, the surprise element of the christmas spirit. <3
enjoying feeling greedy for a little bit and eating too much food but feelin special when people open your presents and havin fun
The bevy of social activities that build up prior to the actual day; the good food & drinks shared with friends and family; shortbread!
The look on family/ friends faces when they open their gift/s and they love what I have chosen for them. Nothing beats that
Seeing all the people you don’t normally get to see. Having their face light up as they hug you. That warmth you both feel.
Christmas for me is staying in pjs without guilt until afternoon then glamming up and playing with the kiddies, eating, drinking and reflecting on the year with high hopes for the next.
Catching up on all the juicy gossip about relatives and feeling uncomfortable when they know that you know about their misbehaviour, but alcohol always helps
Decorating theChristmas tree with Master 4 and Miss 2 and seeing their faces as they saw the Myer Christmas windows for the first time!
family and happy times of course but also I secretly love eating way too much Christmas food
Good Food, Good Wine – Great opportunity to hang out with the ones you love & give a gift too.
Every generation gets together to catch up…then after a big feed, every generation settles in for a snooze…then wake up to keep on catching up with each other! What other day in the year do you do that?
Christmas means pud, pressies, people dear
Maybe a glass or two of beer
But most of all it’s warm embraces
And delight on children’s faces.
I’m over the top with friends & family, but I love to share some unexpected joy & Christmas wonder to someone I don’t even know.
My favourite part of Christmas is not feeling guilty about staying in my pyjama’s until well after 11am, opening Christmas pressies and lazy breakfasts!
Relaxing at home with a glass of red, eagerly awaiting the excitement that the morning will bring
Genuinely taking the time to write Christmas cards to friends, both old and new, playing beautiful Christmas music to herald in the Jacaranda season.
Congratulations to Lisa Preston – winner of the Estee Lauder & Bobbi Brown stocking fillers!
