WOMEN OF STYLE AND SUBSTANCE: NATALIE BLOOM (+ GIVEAWAY)
Naturally sophisticated, Natalie Bloom radiates a sense of beauty and grace, which is evident in the design and quality of her successful cosmetics range, Bloom Cosmetics. Her passion combined with her eye for design, creative vision, entrepreneurial spirit and determination has seen her become Australia’s “Cosmetics Queen”. 16 years after she starting making candle making kits in her parent’s spare room, her cosmetic’s range has blossomed to contain over 300 products, be stocked internationally and have a celebrity following including Liv Tyler, Kylie, Jade Jagger and even members of the Royal Family. In addition to her running her empire, she has written a book and is a mother of 3. What a woman!
Starting with only one product, she was lucky enough to receive an order from Myers for 5000 of them. With the success of this, she created more product, and the range organically expanded until it included not only aromatherapy oils, lip balms, bath and body products, but also a full line of cosmetics.
It would be easy to think that her rise to the top was effortless, however it seems it was a balance of dedication and youthful innocence, that enabled her to take take risks which ultimately led to her success.
“Building a business at such a young age was hard going but there were many advantages to being so young. In retrospect, the fact that I was so naive to the complexities of business meant that I wasn’t afraid to make mistakes and take risks.”
With a background in graphic design, Natalie designed packaging that was playful, feminine and flirtatious, which created a fresh and modern brand that stood out from its competitors. Again the passion for what she does is evident in her designs, with the packaging continuing to evolve with the expansion of the range.
Her Chapel Street flagship store in Melbourne, is a beautiful space that not only showcases her complete range, but also her individual beauty. When you walk into the store, you are embraced by a feeling of femininity and a whisper of Victorian charm, merged with modern style. As always, Bloom’s playful sense of fun is also evident in the warm and inviting atmosphere. The inspiration board on the wall contains a collection of beautiful images that inspire Natalie, something she talks more about in her beautiful book, “Beauty In Bloom”.
Like Natalie, I have always cut out beautiful images that move and inspire me, or things that I want more of in my life, and stuck them on the inside of my wardrobe door to inspire me on a daily basis. I also like to surround myself with beautiful things that make me happy. Something I think every woman should do, as it really can make a big difference to how you feel.

Natalie is such an inspirational businesswoman. It’s been great to see her product range grow over the years.
I was lucky enough to meet Natalie in store when Beauty in Bloom came out – and she was SO lovely down to Earth, I had a great time chatting with her about my love for the packaging, it compared to Napoleon Perdis products and such, I really came away from it respecting her and the company more.
