BEAUTY NEWS FROM MY BOUDOIR

THE WONDERCAP

As a brunette who recently had a whole head of foils (yikes) I’ve not only officially become more high maintenance than Jordan, but my hair now needs a whole lot of extra care in order to not dry out. If moderation is my personal mantra in May, surely my hair must be pleading for moisture.

I’ve always been an advocate of quality shampoo, conditioner and treatments, but my new lightened hair requires me to bring out the arsenal. The Wondercap is a cap that you heat in the microwave for 90 seconds and place on your head, to infuse and enhance the results of your at home treatments.

“Before Wondercap, whenever I did a conditioning treatment at home, I did the old gladwrap and hot wet towel trick to get heat to the head” says McJorrow.  Not only is a wet towel cumbersome on the head, but it would only stay hot for a minute or so whereas the Wondercap fits snugly on the head and holds an even heat for up to 20 minutes.”

It’s reported to smooth the cuticle, eliminate frizz, moisturise the hair and infuse outstanding shine. I bet Kate is kicking herself she didn’t have one at her disposal prior to walking down the aisle of Westminster Abbey. But then again, I’m sure she didn’t have to resort to at home treatments to tame her tresses. For us mere mortals, The Wondercap is the perfect way to deeply penetrate moisture into our hair and step out with salon style hair every day.

SMIINK EYELASHES

I love the red carpet effect of false eyelashes, especially in pictorial evidence of nights out on the town with the girls. However, not all false eyelashes are created equal in terms of va va voom and longevity. Having trialled these babies, I can report that not only do they leave you feeling like a celebrity walking up to the podium to collect an Oscar, but they can also be used many times over and are much easier to apply. Glue those babies on and guide them onto your lashes with all the confidence of a pilot landing a plane in JFK.

SEBASTIAN PROFESSIONAL MATTE PUTTY

Do you have a man in your life that needs some Carson Kresley type “jooshing” with his hair? Since I handed this over to the man in my life, he’s been sporting hair that makes me weak at the knees. This matte putty is a texturiser that not only allows your man to style his hair with invisible hold and texture, but is also moisturising with a matte finish.

KIT AND BLOOM EYESHADOWS

As someone with cool tones, I’ve always found it hard to find brown or taupe shades that suit my complexion. No matter how much I whore myself out at the cosmetic counters, I seem to always come across warm brown shadows that although do their best to seduce me with their packaging, do nothing to take my hand in happily ever after. However, Kit and Bloom have come to the rescue with two shades that have wooed my affections.

SK-II SIGNS UPLIFTER

I’m a big fan of SK-II – you only have to look at its poster girl, Cate Blanchett for evidence. Sure, we all know that most all photos in cosmetic campaigns are photoshopped beyond belief, but when I see Cate, I believe her results are real. Not only because I saw her on Andrew Denton stating she would never have botox, but also because I’ve used SK-II myself, and have seen the results. If there’s one product you’re going to pawn all your belongings on Ebay to be able to afford, this is the one, which is why the SK-II Essence was a Hall of Fame product here on MWSG.

So what’s this Signs Uplifter all about you ask? It’s a lifting serum to use after cleansing and before moisturising, that promotes firmer skin and improves elasticity.

ABODE AROMA

I love to have a candle burning when beautifying myself in my boudoir and waiting for my face mask works its magic. Abode Aroma have a divine collection of candles and room fragrances that beautifully suit the bill.  Their vanilla soy candle imparts a beautiful sensual aroma whilst my latest shade of OPI polish dries on my nails, and their gardenia bud aroma reeds deliver a long lasting divine fragrance that reminds me of summer long after the sunshine has departed to make way for autumn. If you are a fan of gardenia, you’ll know that not all gardenia is created equal, and I’m here to report that this reincarnation of gardenia is like inhaling a fresh bud that you’ve stolen from your neighbour’s garden (ahem, not that I would ever do that).
