INTERN PROGRAM
Intern programs with The Modern Woman’s Survival Guide are a fabulous way to build your writing portfolio, forward your career and gain an in-depth understanding of the online magazine world. Interns are mentored by the Editor-in-Chief and your long term writing goals will be nurtured.
Intern programs are available on a six month basis. Whilst interns are traditionally unpaid in the industry, you could be offered a paid writing position at the end of your internship (dependent on availability).
CURRENT VACANCIES
Site Intern
The Modern Woman’s Survival Guide is launching an exciting new sister site in late February, and we are looking for an enthusiastic, dedicated and dynamic Intern to assist the Editor-in-Chief and the Beauty Editor.
You will also have the opportunity to write articles and review beauty products to help build your writing portfolio.
Reports to: Editor-in-Chief & Beauty Editor
Requirement: Up to 4 hours per week
Length: 6 months
Objective
Support the team by conducting product call outs, liaising with public relations professionals and managing ad-hoc site administration.
Duties
- Liaise with PR professionals to conduct call outs
- Place call outs on Source Bottle as requested
- Assist with the organisation of competitions
- Upload articles in WordPress
- Maintain and develop relationships over email with PRs & Brand Ambassadors
- Send links of published articles to PRs
- Update spreadsheets with call outs and PR contacts
- Assist Editor-in-Chief & Beauty Editor with ad-hoc site administration as requested
Key Skills
- Possess a natural flair for writing
- Ability to use WordPress to upload articles
- Able to update google docs spreadsheets
- Organised and have strong attention to detail
- Outstanding communication skills

WEBSITE ASSISTANT
The Modern Woman’s Survival Guide is seeking someone to assist in updating The Modern Woman’s Survival Guide as required and the development of our new sister site. You not need to have a degree, however you should have a working knowledge of WordPress, html code and have a fabulous flair for graphic design. As such, this is a fabulous opportunity for a student or graduate to build their portfolio.
Reports to: Editor-in-Chief
Requirement: Up to 4 hours per week
Length: 6 months
Objective
Support the Editor-in-Chief with updating the Modern Woman’s Survival Guide and the launch of its new sister site.
Duties
- Design fabulous graphics for websites
- Update WordPress with new features
- Troubleshoot IT issues for the team as required
- Set up new emails and assist new contributors with set up in their email applications
- Assist with SEO keywords for articles (desirable but not essential)
Key Skills
- Competent in WordPress and html coding
- Understanding of SEO
- Ability to design graphics suited to the style of the publications
- Understanding of applications, widgets and plugins that can improve features on the site
