With my penchant for vintage glamour, you won’t be surprised that I currently find myself quite taken by Benefit Cosmetics. Not only am I completely enamored by the fun and flirtatious vintage pin-up girls that grace their sassy packaging, I am also charmed in equal measures by the quality of their delightful products (and I’m a tough crowd when it comes to such matters). Benefit was born in San Francisco [...]
After being hypnotised yesterday to become a non smoker for life, I began to think about my relationship with money. What are the sub conscious beliefs and thoughts that dictate my financial affairs?
Published in Onya Magazine on the 18th of January 2010. “I must confess, I’ve been a bad girl, a very bad girl. During the festive season, I committed so many sins against my skin, that I’m surprised Santa even stopped by my house.
There I was happily typing away on my book in Storymill, when I decided to tidy up the folders down the side. However, I forgot that Storymill has a major glitch when it comes to managing the views, in that it deletes a different file than you select. Yes, you guessed it, with one click of a button all my chapters were gone. G-O-N-E!! Fuck, fuck, fuck, FUCK, FUCK, FUCK!!! [...]
A monthly column which features beauty news, product reviews and product of the month. This month includes YSL False Lash Effect Mascara, Bobbi Brown Gel Eyeliner, Benefit perfume & WEN haircare (go on admit it, you’re curious aren’t you).
I’ve spent most of this week moving house. As a free spirited minimalist, I am adverse to accumulating large items of furniture, which has meant moving has been relatively easy for me in the past. However, this time there were two of us moving in.
If Agent Provocateur’s perfume bottle doesn’t make you swoon with desire, then its seductive and alluring fragrance certainly will. It elicits images of an elegant French woman wearing ridiculously sexy underwear in her boudoir, getting ready for a date with the most handsome monsieur she’s ever batted her lashes at.”
A monthly collection of things that I love, inspire me or just plain make me happy. From art, music, people, places and pursuits. What inspires you this month?
Well, hello my darlings. It’s been a while since I have graced the pages of my blog. It seems like such a long time since my last post, but yet, time seems to have flown by, and I feel like I’ve hardly had a holiday. However, I shan’t complain, since I’ve had some fabulous times, especially my “once in a blue moon” antics, that signaled in the new year. I [...]
“I’m going to come clean – I’m not really a fan of natural skin care. You certainly won’t find me writing about how to make your own face mask with oatmeal and avocado, nor will I be advising you to smear your face with a mashed banana and honey.
I’m about to start my holidays. It’s going to be just me, the complete series of Sex and the City and the latest Marian Keyes book which has been waiting ever so patiently for me to read it since I bought it the day it came out (yes I am a devoted fan – all hail the Queen of chic lit). I don’t know about you, but it always takes [...]
Published in Onya Magazine 16th December 2009. I’m not one to get worked up over many things, but the one thing that does make me want to get up on my soapbox, is retail stores putting up Christmas decorations in August. For me, it completely kills the spirit of what it’s all about.
Is it just me or are you feeling like it’s a big push to the finish line right now too? I’m treating my to do list with complete contempt and I wish my week was over before it’s even started. Not for what I have to do, but just because I’m ready for a holiday now. Like right now. Don’t get me wrong, it’s been a great year, in fact, [...]
A new monthly beauty column with beauty news, product reviews and more. This month includes details of OPIs new Hong Kong inspired nail polish range.
Published in Onya Magazine December 8th 2009. “The longer I live the more beautiful life becomes. If you foolishly ignore beauty you will soon find yourself without it. Your life will be impoverished. But if you invest in beauty it will remain with you all the days of your life.” – Frank Lloyd Wright
As a child nothing excited me more than Christmas. Each year I vowed to stay awake to catch Father Christmas in the act of delivering my presents to make sure he had a brand spanking new bike and a barbie.
can’t deny it – I am going through something. Something that makes me want to run straight to the shop for a bottle of sauvignon blanc and a packet of Vogue super slim menthols. A sorrow so deep that it’s bringing me to my knees.
Okay, so it’s been a while since I’ve waxed lyrical about all the things I’m loving in my life. So without further adoo…Being a Freelance Writer, Beauty Editor, Columnist & Blogger … just quietly, I think I have a bit of a thing for writing.
It always amazes me that whenever I have the courage to let go of something in life, that something more amazing inevitably takes its place. It’s as though every time I clean out my cupboards, have a good cry or let go of things that aren’t working; something shiny, new and fabulous comes along.
Inspired by Tim Burton’s new adaptation of Alice In Wonderland, OPI has released 4 enchanting new shades. Would you like to come with me on a magical journey through a wonderland of sparkles, shimmer and a kaleidoscope of colour? I do hope you’re wearing your prettiest dress, as the Mad Hatter has invited us to a tea party. Hurry now, as we mustn’t be late for our very important date. Mad [...]
Six months ago I was going to the gym and walking twice around the Botanical Gardens every week. Then, my gym and walking buddy went overseas for a few months and I let it all slide. Throw in a drinking problem (well the guy at the bottle shop said “same again today?” and “see you again shortly”, so I’m guessing that constitutes some kind of issue) and a house guest who [...]
